01 Practice
Five traditions, and the discipline of telling them apart.
Each of these asks for a different body. Bharatanatyam strikes and holds; Mohiniyattam moves in circles and never quite stops; Odissi bends where Bharatanatyam squares off. Knowing where one ends and the next begins is what adjudication actually consists of.

Kuchipudi

-
03
Mohiniyattam മോഹിനിയാട്ടം
SoloSoloKerala's own classical form. Slower, circular, carried in the torso rather than struck through the limbs.
-
04
Odissi

-
05
Folk dance
SoloSoloRegional folk repertoire, performed and adjudicated. Assessed on entirely different terms from the classical forms, which is precisely why it belongs here.
